Center on Race and Social Problems

2012 Summer Institutes

During the summer of 2012, the Center hosted a series of summer institutes.  Each institute consisted of two presentations by experts on racial health disparities in the Pittsburgh area, causes of these problems, and strategies for reducing the disparities. The audience of health care practitioners, students, and researchers discussed the presentations and additional ways that racial health disparities might be alleviated in the region. The institutes were generously funded by Highmark, Inc., UPMC Health Sciences Foundation, Jewish Healthcare Foundation and the Falk Foundation.
