Summer Institutes

Each year the Center on Race and Social Problems hosts continuing education Summer Institutes on topics related to race and social problems. These continuing education seminars provide a forum for academic, community, and practice members to network and learn.

Since 2006, we have hosted 29 institutes.


2018 Summer Institutes

Race and Child Welfare - June 6

Race, Child Welfare, and the Opioid Crisis


8:00am - 5:00 pm in 2017 Cathedral of Learning

The summit will include academic and community experts who will discuss the impact of opioid crisis in relation to race and child welfare in general and with the Pittsburgh metro area being used as a case example.  Opportunities will be provided for dialogue and discussion, as well as for networking.  

Special rates are available at the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center, directly opposite the Cathedral of Learning where the Institute will be held.

We are offering 6 CE credits for this summer institute.

The registration cost is $150.  Register before May 15th to get an early bird special for $99.
