Personal Biography

The Race and Equity Collaboratory sparked my interest because I feel that systemic racism is still an issue that is deeply rooted in our nation, and I feel that it is most appropriate to address this issue as a community. I value community greatly and everyone should feel comfortable and welcome wherever they are, and because of this I find value in working amongst communities to see what resources are being put out for its members to foster a good quality of life. I grew up in a community where many of people suffer substance abuse problems, high incarceration rates as well as high suicide rates, so my goal is for the upcoming generations of my community to not face so many of the same issues. I find great importance in working with the Youth of our community and being aware of what information they are taking in, so we can better foster a positive environment.
