I am passionate about racial equity and justice and am involved in my community to fight maternal racial justice and inequities. I am an advocate with MomsRising, and recently travelled to DC to with other moms to speak up about why we need paid family leave, high quality childcare, and maternal justice. I completed a Racial Healing cohort with the YWCA 15 months ago where we read a Racial Healing book together, had poignant discussions and also joined together on 2 Saturdays for all day training. I hosted a racial healing group of my own where we met on 2 different occasions to have necessary and healing discussions.
I co-facilitate an online Black History course called Justified Anger. It is for white educators to learn the real Black history that we never learned in school. It's offered through an organization called Nehemiah in Madison, WI. I attended the Safer Childbirth Cities Conference in Chicago, representing Healthy Start.
