Dani Hunter-Rue

Personal Biography

I am interested in doing work that improves the lives of adolescents, particularly around mental health. I think social justice work, particularly in schools requires individuals to have a change in thinking. And systems also need to be set up to help facilitate that changes. Being apart of of the Race and Equity Collaboratory will help do both the structural change work and the individual change work.

I am currently studying developmental psychology with an emphasis on adolescent development. My current research examines how wealth/income inequality, structural racism, and restorative practices in schools impact child well-being. I am also a licensed professional counselor doing work with adolescents and their families. I've been trained in intergroup dialogue facilitation and have been working on organizing the Say Its Name conference that connects with community members in Pittsburgh.
