Detria Dixon

Personal Biography

My name is Detria Dixon. I am currently employed with Pittsburgh Public Schools as a school social worker for nearly a decade. Additionally, I am the owner and founder of Kukua Na Nia, LLC. Kukua Na Nia is a 14-week, rites of passage program that serves Black adolescent females. The program aims to help them develop a profound sense of identity, reclaim their cultural heritage, and acquire knowledge of their roots, utilizing the Nguzo Nane principles. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work in 2013. I am currently working toward a National Certified School Social Worker (NCSSW) certification, but my aspiration is to pursue a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree. It would be an honor to participate in the Racial Equity Collaboratory to collaborate and help advance social justice and racial equity!
