Congratulations to our Associate Director and Founder of RECI, Ron Idoko! We're excited to share that The P.R.I.D.E. Program, (positive racial identity development in early education) in partnership with the Center on Race and Social Problems’ Racial Equity Consciousness Institute (RECI) will engage two 2nd grade classrooms in a series of philosophy, race, and equity dialogic sessions. The project, called CPR - Children Philosophy and Race - will be housed at Urban Academy of Greater Pittsburgh located in the East Liberty/Larimer neighborhood.
The CPR team includes Dr. Aisha White, director of P.R.I.D.E., Dr. Ron Idoko, founder of RECI and Associate Director of the Center on Race and Social Problems, and Medina Jackson, P.R.I.D.E. director of engagement. The Urban Academy school team includes principal Shana Smith and two second grade teachers, Miss Lewis and Miss Ford.
Funding for the project is provided by a grant from the Office of Child Development’s Frank & Theresa Caplan Fund for Early Childhood Development & Education. The P.R.I.D.E. Program is funded by the Hillman Foundation and the Pittsburgh Foundation.
