Sally Rafson

Personal Biography

Sally Rafson, Founder of Sharing Our Story, is a leader in using digital storytelling to bridge communities. She first introduced the concept to Pittsburgh after training in workshop facilitation while living in Toronto, Canada. For 10 years, Sally has directed 10 successful storytelling initiatives, designing and leading workshops and public discussions that elevate diverse voices and foster dialogue around community concerns. A certified educator in both Pennsylvania and Ontario, she earned National Board Teaching Certification in Literacy and is a Western Pennsylvania Writing Project Fellow. With a B.A. in Anthropology and a Master’s in International Development, Sally blends academic insight with practical experience to create meaningful, culturally responsive collaborations. She has trained teachers through national webinars in Canada and presented at conferences on creative literacy practices. Passionate about equity, voice, and connection, Sally works to empower individuals and communities through the art of storytelling.
