Dr. Yakiciwey Mitchell is an Assistant Professor in the California Baptist University College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She serves as 1st Vice President of the Black Administrators in Child Welfare. Yakiciwey began her career developing and implementing community-based social service programs through public/private partnerships.
Working in the nonprofit sector, Yakiciwey partnered with public local and national child welfare agencies to transform systems for over two decades. Yakiciwey has supported the most vulnerable children and families through service program development and leadership throughout her career. She has trained line staff, managers, and administrators to implement transformative system change.
Yakiciwey is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families. She is committed to developing and promoting community and public/private partnerships to improve systems. Her mission is to build people up and help them to thrive. She received her bachelor's degree in political science from UC Santa Barbara, a master's degree in social welfare from UCLA, and her Doctorate in Social Work from California Baptist University.
