Our immersive learning community cohort takes a critical systems thinking approach to deconstructing the complexity and pervasiveness of racism and catalyzing personal and collective strategies to cultivate racial equity.
Optional RECI Research Opportunity: We also kindly invite you to consider joining an optional Pitt research study as we seek to understand how completion of the RECI curriculum affects brain, physiologic, and behavioral measures. Click here for more details.
Cohort participants explore and engage the Structured Cognitive Behavioral Training (SCBT) framework for racial equity consciousness development in efforts to:
- Broaden horizons, understanding and respecting diverse racial perspectives.
- Nurture cultural humility, competence, and agency.
- Foster a proactive attitude towards creating racially equitable and inclusive environments.
- Develop the confidence to be a driving force for transformative social change.

February 27 (2pm-5pm) – Recognizing Racial Oppression | Advancing Racial Liberation
March 6 (2pm-5pm) – Examining Racial Identities | Addressing Racial Biases
March 13 (2pm-5pm) – Embracing Racial Diversity | Growing Racial Literacy
March 20 (2pm-5pm) – Building Racial Empathy | Enhancing Racial Stamina
March 27 (2pm-5pm) – Acknowledging Racial Trauma | Fostering Racial Healing
April 3 (2pm-5pm) – Gauging Racial Inequities | Championing Racial Justice
April 10 (11:30am-2pm) - Wrap Up Luncheon
RECI Learning Community Cohort participants will earn a participation badge by:
- Attending at least 6 to 7 sessions (85% attendance)
- Signing-in via e-sign/ sign-in sheet for each session attended
- Completing badge of participation form after final cohort session
- Badges will be awarded at the conclusion of the cohort via Accredible
